Armbruster Jewelers was founded in 1884 by John Armbruster, a watchmaker from the Black Forest region of Germany. At first, it was not only a jewelry store, but sold pianos and other musical instruments. Later, it was the biggest television dealer in Ozaukee County.
The present building, built in 1908, is one of the handsome buildings on Washington Avenue. In recent years, the Armbrusters lovingly restored its interior to the early 20th century appearance.
